Genre: Painting, Abstract and Pleine Aire
In my painting, my first priority is to create a sense of freedom of space, color and gesture. To do so, I use a wide range of materials including large brushes, charcoal, different types of paint, pastels, and collage. As I work, I create energy through a spontaneous dialog of marks and color relationships. I feel the painting come alive with movement and countermovement. Planes are juxtaposed creating a staccato beat and I become absorbed with the painting until I sense a visual epiphany. My hope is to communicate this elation to the viewer so he or she will be able to experience it in a similar way.
